How can I apply for a passport?

Each country has its own process for passport card applications. Check your country’s govt. website for all the directions on obtaining a passport. You may have to apply in person at a govt. office / you’ll be able to apply for a passport online.

Typically you’ll have to fill out a passport application form, provide proof of your id & citizenship, provide passport photos, list two (2) references on the application form, & pay the application fee.

It’s extremely important to make sure you fill out the application form correctly & truthfully as your request may be denied otherwise.

What document do I need for my passport card application?

When applying for a passport you must provide documents supporting your id & citizenship.

For e.g., for the Canadian passport appeal supporting documents must include proof of Canadian citizenship, such as an actual date of birth certificate, however, as a second (2nd) proof of id, such as a driving license, two identical passport-sized photos, & a valid Canadian travel document.

Can my passport application be refused?

Yes. The passport-issuing authorities of your country may refuse to issue you a passport if, for e.g., you provided false information on your application, you aren’t a citizen of the country, / if you have been charged with guilt. How to book an Appointment for an India passport?

• Login to the online Passport Seva Portal (PSP) with registered login id & password.

• Click on the ‘Apply for recent or reissue passport’ link.

• Fill the required details & submit the application form

• Next, click on the ‘Pay & Schedule Appointment’ link which is located under the ‘View Saved or Submitted Applications’ screen to schedule the appointment.

• On doing so, the appointment slot will be allotted to the candidate.

How long does it take to get a fresh passport card?

Time to passport varies between countries. For e.g., it can take between 10 & 20 days to receive the Canadian passport after successful application, & three to six weeks to receive the Btish passport after applying.

Check your country’s govt. website to find out how long it’ll take to receive a new passport once you have filed your application. If you want to quickly need it more urgently you may have to pay a rush fee.

When renewing my passport card, will my old passport be returned to me?

Your old passport may be returned to you/it may be securely destroyed by your govt. passport-issuing authority. Typically if your old passport is returned to you it’ll be returned in a damaged form to invalidate it, for e.g. with a hole through the booklet. If you have an entry visa that is still valid in your old passport, then it’ll be returned to you.
