INTRODUCTION:

Rampurhat is a city and a municipality in the Birbhum district in the state of West Bengal. It is the headquarters of the rampurhat subdivision. As per census rampurhat is the third most populous city in Birbhum district and eighty second most populous city in West Bengal. It is a rapidly growing township near West Bengal/Jharkhand border. It is an important city of Birbhum district as it is connected with other places of West Bengal and neighboring states via state highways, national highways and rail routes. In eastern India Rampurhat junction is one of the busiest railway stations. According to census it has a total population of fifty seven thousand peoples out of which twenty nine thousand are males and twenty eight thousand are females.  The main economy of the town depends on stone crushers and mines which are located on the Bengal/Jharkhand border.
