Introduction

Formerly day-scholar students of sophistication V-VIII belonging to the Scheduled Caste category enjoyed two grants namely a) assistance within the sort of book grant and b) assistance within the sort of maintenance grant. the amount of such grants was meagre and didn't serve the intended purpose. Further, the tactic of selection of candidates for disbursements is cumbersome and time-consuming. so as to try to to away with these predicaments inherent within the scheme and to supply quality assistance to SC students of Classes V to VIII during a smooth, transparent, and efficient way, a replacement scheme of providing assistance to the target group is being formulated within the name of 'Shikshashree'. 'Sikshashree' scheme of assisting SC day-scholars of sophistication V-VIII is evolved by merging the prevailing schemes of Book Grant and Maintenance Grant. It applies to the day scholars of West Bengal read in school V-VIII in any Government, Government-aided and every one Government recognized schools of West Bengal. The target of the scheme is to supply financial assistance to the SC students reading in classes V to VIII to enhance their participation in Pre-matric stages and minimize the incidence of drop-out especially within the case of girl students.

 

Objective of The Sikshashree Scheme

 

The objective of the scheme is to supply financial assistance to the SC students reading in classes V to VIII to enhance their participation in Pre-matric stages and minimize the incidence of drop-out especially within the case of girl students.

 

The project Sikshasree is for those students of the state who belong to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. to scale back the amount of drop-outs the government has initiated the grant to students of sophistication V to Class VIII. Students, who don't stay in government hostels and belong to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, are eligible for the grant. Each of the Scheduled Castes students of sophistication V to Class VII will get a grant of Rs. 750/- once a year and people of sophistication VIII will get a grant of Rs. 800/- once a year , while students belonging to Scheduled Tribes and studying from Class V to Class VIII will get a grant of Rs. 800/- once a year .

 

Benefits of Sikshashree Scheme

 

  • The government provide SC/ST students studying in school Class V to VIII
  • Class V: government provides a scholarship of Rs. 500/- per annum to the scholars studying in class V
  • Class VI: government provides a scholarship of Rs. 650/- per annum to the scholars studying in class v
  • Class VII: government provides a scholarship of Rs. 700/- per annum to the scholars studying in class VII
  • Class VIII: government provides a scholarship of Rs. 800/- per annum to the scholars studying in class VIII

 

Eligibility Criteria

 

  • Students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and studying between Class V and sophistication VIII in government/ government recognized regular schools/ madrasahs or equivalent.
  • The family income should be but Rs. 2.5 lac per annum. To avail of the benefit, the scholar should have a bank account during a nationalized bank.
  • Certificate of income from M.P./ M.L.A./ Councilor/ Pradhan/ Member of Zilla Parishad/ Chairman/ Government Officer should be submitted alongside the appliance .
  • Only day scholars belonging to West Bengal can apply for this scholarship.
  • He/she shouldn't get the other scholarship or stipend in any form for an equivalent period. just in case it's detected that the incumbent has drawn any amount of comparable character from the other source this scholarship has got to be refunded.
  • He/she should be a holder of a checking account during a nationalized bank with a core banking facility.
