Sabooj Sathi Scheme – West Bengal

 

INTRODUCTION –

From many of the schemes announced by the West Bengal government for the fulfillment of the need of the people of West Bengal, Sabooj Sathi Scheme is one of the steps put in front by the hon’ble Finance Minister, in 2015-16 Budget speech. According to this scheme it has been declared that there would a distribution of bicycles to a near about 40 lakhs of students studying in classes IX to XII. But the scheme is only for the students who studies in government or government supported schools and Madrasahs of the state. In the year 2015-16 only 25 lakh students will get the privilege to avail for this scheme and rest of the 15-lakh students will get in the next fiscal year as said by the Finance Minister. There are many schemes taken by the West Bengal government for students like “Kanyashree scheme” who has got global prize. Like that only “Sabooj Sathi scheme” won prize from The Word Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) on Monday, which was handed over to the State Government through a virtual ceremony said by the government officials. Under the e-government category Sabooj Sathi scheme won the place of winner. This scheme was specially held through the rural West Bengal to encourage the students with study and to continue school education for the betterment of their future. According to the recent survey around 85 lakhs of students received the cycles at an estimate cost of over 2,700 crores. The main agency who helped to implement this scheme fully was West Bengal SC ST Development and Finance Corporation has been declared as one of the prominent agencies who helped in the distribution of bicycle to every student got selected randomly.

 

Overview of the Mission

 

Sabooj Sathi Scheme step taken by our honorable state government of West Bengal under the supervision of Finance Minister of West Bengal. In this scheme students from classes 9 to 12 are provided with bicycles to encourage them for studying. In this scheme 25 lakh of students will get to receive the advantage of this scheme. In this scheme both boys and girls can apply for the privileges. There are many schemes just like this for example “Kanyashree Scheme”. In which girl students are mainly considered, for the encouragement of girls for education and make their life worth. This scheme has effectively worked for which Chief Minister of West Bengal decided to provide more 10 lakh bicycles to students. This scheme has all round advantage in which the main advantage is that it is eco-friendly, good for student’s health, and it also accompanied student’s family financially.

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR SCHEME –

 

• Firstly, the candidate should be the permanent resident of West Bengal to avail the advantage of this scheme.
• The candidate should study from classes IX to XII in government and government supported schools and Madrasahs of the state.
• There are no criteria that only a single gender can apply for this scheme. Both boy and girl student can avail this scheme.

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENT FOR THIS SCHEME –

 

• Address proof of the student is essentially necessary to apply for this scheme.
• For identity proof student should carry Aadhar Card for applying it.
• School related document must be carried by the students.

 

OBJECTIVE OF THIS SCHEME –

 

• The main objective of this scheme is to furnish students with free bicycles who are studying between 9 to 12 in government schools or Madarashas schools.
• So that students get encouraged for studying in state schools and empowers the state government schools.
• Indirectly or directly, it will also encourage students to complete their higher education with more enthusiastic way.
• It will also bring confidence in the girls’ students which will also promote the participation of girl’s education.
• This scheme will economically and environmentally friendly facilitate the students which would be beneficial for them from every corner.

 

FUNDING OF THIS SCHEME –

 

This scheme was fully funded by different Backward Classes Welfare, Tribal Development, School Education and Minority Affair and Madrasah Education which makes this scheme fully efficient and helpful for the students. Depending upon the number of students will availing for this scheme.

• After the webpage gets open on the homepage, then click to the section given as Quick Link.
• After the homepage fully opens clicked on the option given as Grievance.
• Then the grievance page will be opened in front of you.
• Then the next step would be to fill the candidate's detail as asked like name of the candidate, mobile number, Email-ID, grievance type and some other details.
• Then attach the asked document in there.
• Then the last step is to click on the send button.

 

BENEFITS OF THE SCHEME –

 

• Among 85 lakh students would get the advantage of the free cycle provided by the West Bengal state government due to provide this the estimate cost arises to 2,700 crores.
• After the implementation of this scheme school dropout decreased rapidly by 20-25 per cent in last four continues year mainly in West Bengal village as well as rural areas.
• Girl education also increased in top rate because this scheme helped to gain confidence for the girl students to study and fulfill their dream.
• The achievement earned by this scheme encouraged the chief minister for another tender to give another 10-lakh bicycle to the students.
• This scheme is helpful for the environment as cycles are eco-friendly and good for health for the students who will use to get transported from school to home.

Sabooj sathi scheme appears to be an encouraging scheme for all those students who somehow lost the courage to study, this scheme directly or indirectly helps them. The advantage of this schemes is many like, by this scheme environment is conserved, heath of the students is maintained, it somehow helps financially for some of the students, etc. By the West Bengal government there are many schemes like Kanyashree Prakalpa Scheme for encouraging girl students for studying. The progress status of this scheme is highly accomplished by the West Bengal government under the jurisdiction of the West Bengal Finance Minister. For that reason, this scheme was planned for extending more which means to provide more 10 lakh bicycles at free to students for studying.
