Established by the Ministry of External Affairs in partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Passport Seva is an excellent example of a Public-Private Partnership. The Ministry of External Affairs has maintained sovereign functions like verification, granting, & issuance of a passport as well as ownership of core assets including data & information of the candidates.

 

Passport Seva Online Portal enables Indian citizens to complete a range of tasks related to obtaining a passport online. Users can perform the subsequent functions on the Passport Seva Online Portal:

 

•Apply for a new passport

•Apply for renewal of a passport

•Apply for re-issue of lost/damaged passport

•Download the candidate application form for Police Clearance Certificate

•Download the candidate application form for Surrender Certificate (SC)

•Download the candidate application form for ID Certificate

 

Passport Seva Online Portal offers complete information regarding the documents required & the process to be followed for obtaining any of the documents mentioned above. You can complete these steps online. But in some instances, you’ll be required to take a printout of the application form, book an appointment & then visit your nearest Passport Seva Kendra.

 

To be able to use the facilities made available under Passport Seva, it’s mandatory to register for Passport Seva Online first.

A passport is a must if you wish to travel abroad. In addition to being an important travel document, a passport serves as proof of identity & address. It’s essential for a user to register on the Passport Seva Online to be able to avail of the services made available after Passport Seva Login.

 

Here are detailed step by step instructions to help you with Passport Seva Registration: –

 

  • Log on to the official passport Seva website, i.e. https://portal2.passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/welcomeLink

  • Towards the left side of our screen, you’ll be able to see a button in orange color “New User”? Register now. Click on the link

  • This will open up a form that you need to complete with the required details.

  • Make sure that the radio button is set to “Passport Office.”

  • Select the nearest passport office for your city from the drop-down list.

  • Now, enter your personal details as prompted on the screen in the relevant fields.

  • You’ll now need to select a login Identity & password, as per terms & conditions mentioned on the portal. Re-enter the password to confirm.

  • You’ll now be asked to choose a hint question & provide its answer. This will assist you to retrieve your details if you ever lose your login credentials.

  • Enter the captcha code as shown on the screen & click on the button titled “Register”.

  • Your account is now created, & you can log-in using these credentials next time.

  • Now, you can proceed ahead with passport Seva login & use the facilities offered by the Passport Seva.

 

Passport Seva login

 

Passport Seva login provides you with all the options that are required by you to obtain a new / renew an existing passport. Here is a stepwise guide to assist you with the process: –

 

  • Log on to the official passport Seva website, i.e. https://portal2.passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/welcomeLink

  • Towards the left side of our screen, you will be able to see a button in green color “Existing User”? Login Click on the link.

  • You’ll be prompted to enter your User Identity & password on the next screen. Enter the same details that you obtained on completion of the registration method.

  • Now, you can choose between the four options that you see on your screen:

  • Fresh Passport/Passport Reissue

  • Identity Certificate

  • Police Clearance Certificate

  • Diplomatic Passport / Official Passport

  • Now, select the relevant option, i.e. Fresh passport/Passport Re-issue.

  • Select the option “Normal” on the next page & proceed further.

  • You have the option to download the form, fill it manually, & then upload it later/ you can complete the form online itself.

  • Whichever model you choose, please make sure that you fill in the exact details as mentioned in your other documents.

  • Verify your details & click on the submit button.

  • You’ll now be taken to a new page where you’ll be able to see your saved or submitted applications. Click on the link View.

  • Select your application & click on the link “Pay and Schedule Appointment”.

  • Select the option of online payment and click on “Next”. If you want you can generate an offline challan & pay in cash at the nearest SBI(State Bank of India) branch. The bank will take 2 days to update the payment status.

  • You’ll now be able to see a list of all the Passport Seva Kendra near your city along with the earliest available time slot for an appointment.

  • Select the Passport Seva Kendra along with the appointment time slot.

  • Now, when you click on the button “Pay and Book Appointment”, you’ll be redirected to the payment gateway, where you can complete the payment process.

  • After completing the process, you’ll be redirected to the page with the details of your appointment.

  • Take a printout of the application form & make sure that you carry it along with other original documents when you visit the Passport Seva Kendra on the scheduled date & time.

  • After the officer verifies & accepts your application form and documents, you can track the status of your application with the help of the Application Reference Number (ARN)

You have to make sure that you visit the Passport Seva Kendra on the scheduled date & time. Otherwise, you’ll have to repeat the entire process through the Passport Seva Online Portal.
