Introduction

Karma Tirtha may be a flagship programme of the government. the essential objective of Karma Tirtha is to supply a perfect ambience for marketing the products of the artisans, weavers, micro & small entrepreneurs, backward and poor SHG members including women artisans and interaction between them and therefore the consumers, buyers, exporters around the year in an organized manner. With a view to market sustainable entrepreneurship and generate employment, the West Bengal government has found out 'Karma tirtha' - a one-stop-shop allowing entrepreneurs to plug their products on to buyers. 'Karma tirtha' may be a scheme to strike a synergy between the abundance of natural resources and therefore the availability of a talented workforce and thereby move toward sustainable entrepreneurship. The government are going to be providing the requisite infrastructure support including training and finance, allowing individuals, self-help groups, co-operative enterprises, artisans, and weavers to avail of the advantages of the scheme. the target is to line up a minimum of one 'Karma tirtha' in every block of the State.

Karma Tirtha shall be the exclusive property of the govt of West Bengal. Primarily, it'll house 30 permanent stalls during a single-storied building with the inspiration for the two-storied structure and open space for temporary accommodation for economically weak micro artisans/entrepreneurs on a rotation basis.

Objective of Karma Tirtha Scheme Prakalpa

• A new scheme ‘Karma Tirtha Prakalpa was launched by Bengal Government. One lakh unemployed youth are going to be provided soft loans and subsidies to form them self-reliant.
• The Chief Minister added that the percentage in West Bengal had reduced.
• “When then the percentage in India is at an all-time high of 24%, the percentage in Bengal reduced by 40%.
• The loan is going to be provided by the state-owned cooperative bank as support to “prospective entrepreneurs”, within the age bracket between 18 and 50 years, in fixing “new manufacturing enterprises and little businesses”.
• Any new income-generating activity haunted for self-employment in manufacturing, services, and trading are going to be eligible for assistance under the scheme.
• Under the scheme, soft loan and subsidy are going to be provided for taking over any new income-generating project within the manufacturing, service, and trading/business sector up to Rs. 2 lakhs.
• The Karma Tirtha loan are going to be provided by the State-owned Cooperative Bank on soft terms.
• The scheme will commence from the date of Gazette Notification and shall remain effective for a period of three years thereafter.

The government conceptualised the new scheme following the instruction of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. the most purpose of the scheme is to form unemployed youths self-reliant.

Eligibility Criteria

In order to avail of this scheme, the applicants need to fulfil certain eligibility criteria which are as follows.

• Only permanent youth of West Bengal are eligible to avail of this scheme.
• This scheme has been started with the target of creating unemployed youth self-reliant through their own business.
• Only unemployed youth who have passed a minimum of 10th or 12th standard are eligible to use under this scheme.
• Any new income-generating activity haunted for self-employment in manufacturing, services, and trading are going to be eligible for assistance under the scheme.
