INCOME TAX RETURN FILING HAS BEEN EXTENDED TILL 10th January 2020

More than 4.84 crore income tax returns (ITRs) for the fiscal year 2019-2020 have been filed successfully till the date December 31, 2020, according to the Income Tax Department said on Friday.Considering the facts the government has extended the ITR filing deadline for the individuals till January 10, 2021 and for the companies till February 15, 2021.'Over 4.84 crore Income Tax Returns for AY 2020-21 have already been filed till 31st of December, 2020,' twitted by the Income Tax Department.

 

The deadline for the individuals to file ITRs for 2018-2019 was August 31, 2019 and over 5.61 crore Income Tax Returns were filed. An proper analysis of the data revealed that the filing of tax returns by individuals for the period 2019-2020 has slowed down in the running year, while filing by the businesses and trusts have increased. More than 2.65 crore Income Tax Return-1 have been filed till the date December 31, 2020, lower than the amount of 3.09 crore filed tillb the date  August 31, 2019. More than the amount of 1.08 crore Income Tax Return-4 have been filed till the December 31, 2020 as compared to 1.28 crore filed till the date August 31, 2019. Returns in the ITR-1 Sahaj are filed by the individuals having total income does not exceed the amount Rs 50 lakh, while form ITR-4 Sugam is meant for the individuals, the Hindu Undivided Families or HUFs and firms other than Limited Liability Partnership  having a total income of up to Rs 50 lakh and presumptive income from business and profession. More than 36.58 lakh ITR-2 which are filed by the people having income from the residential property were filed till the date December 31. Income Tax Return-5 that is filed by the LLP and the Association of Persons filings reached at the limit at 7.84 lakh. But the Income Tax Return-6 by the businesses filings were at the limit of 3.82 lakh.

 

So to conclude we are known that the INCOME TAX RETURN FILING HAS BEEN EXTENDED TILL the date 10th January 2020 according to the INCOME TAX DEPARTMENT. They said "In view of the continued challenges faced by taxpayers in meeting statutory compliances due to outbreak of COVID-19, the Govt further extends the dates for various compliances.”
