Government looking at new plans, laws to solve MSME receivables issue

Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Union minister of India said that the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises or MSME Ministry is contemplating fresh & new plans and laws to find out a proper solution of the receivable issues as the outstanding dues are creating the working capital problems for these sector. The Micro Small and Medium Enterprise or MSME and the Road Transport minister acknowledged that the receivables issue continues still to be a big problem while speaking at the AGM of the Bharat Chamber of Commerce.

 

"The ministry is looking at new plans and laws to find a solution. It is creating working capital problem for the sector," Mr. Gadkari said. Ramesh Kr Saraogi, the Chamber President, suggested that an external agency will be appointed who will monitor the outstanding dues with the govt. and public sector companies as they are supposed to clear out the dues within 45 days of supplies.

 

Being a part of the project Aatmanirbhar Bharat package announced in the month of May, the MSME dueamounts from the central government agencies and the CPSEs should have been paid within the period of 45 days. On the date December 10,2020 in an official statement, the Centrral government had given a statement that over the amount of Rs 21,000 crore of MSME dues have been paid within the past seven months by the central government agencies and the CPSEs.

 

The minister also organized the industry's help in order to raise the rural economy from the amount Rs 80,000 crore to Rs 5 lakh crore for employment generation in the field of agriculture, rural and tribal sectors in 115 focused districts. According to the high logistics costs of 18 % in India compared to the 10 % in China and 12 % in Europe, he said. He also said that the country requires to use the fuel blended with ethanol in order to bring it down.
