Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is a health Card provided to the member enrolled in the ESI scheme i.e. is an Employee State Insurance (ESI) scheme this scheme was implemented by the ministry of labor & employment to protect workers from unexpected medical issues. any establishment employing more than 10 employees & in some states, more than 20 employees must register their employees under the ESI scheme this scheme is administered by the Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) employee state insurance corporation under ESIC ACT 1948. It is a social security health insurance scheme that provides it is a member's medical benefits & also pension benefits for the dependant. In this scheme, the employee contribution towards ESI is 4.75% from the salary & the employer contributes 1.75% towards ESI considering the basic salary employee paying to the employee. Employees earning more than 21000 Rs must register for this scheme. Every employee who registered with this scheme will be provided with a smart magnetic id card also known as an ESI card.

ESI card download online
To download the Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) card employer needs to login into the ESIC portal www. ESIC.in & the details of the employee should be filled in the ESIC card application form & the form can be downloaded from the same site worker should submit the card family photograph containing photos of dependents to the employer. The employer has to attest submitted documents regarding registering for an ESIC card after filling out the ESIC card application form worker should produce it before the nearest ESIC office where employee/workers biometric scanning will be taken along with the dependent after 30 days of the time period.

If the dependents live in another location they avail the benefits by using an ESI card

When is ESI Registration Required?
If a company establishment employs 10 / more employees & in the case of Maharashtra & Chandigarh more than 20 employees Employee State Insurance (ESI) registration is required. The company should register itself with the Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC).
As for employees, they are covered under ESI when they earn less than Rs.21, 000 per month & Rs.25, 000 in the case of a person with a disability. The employee contributes 1.75% of their salary while the employer contributes 4.75% towards the ESI scheme. Those workers whose daily average wage is up to Rs.50 are exempted from contributing to the ESI fund; however, employers will continue to contribute towards this employee.
Documents Necessary for ESI Online Registration:
1. The Registration Certificate acquired under the Shops & Foundation Act.
2. Certificate of Registration in case of any company.
3. Articles of Association & Memo of Association of the company.
4. List of all workers working in the institution.
5. Compensation details of all employees.
6. PAN Card details of the Business Entity & of all workers.
7. Cancelled cheque of the company’s bank account.
8. Shareholders list & directors list of the company.
9. Register which includes the attendance details of the workers.
10. Employer’s Registration Form (Form No.1) which should be downloaded online, filled in, & uploaded on the Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) website along with the above-mentioned documents.
Procedure for ESI Registration:
The steps to register your establishment with the ESIC:
•Step 1: Visit the Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Portal & click on ‘Login’.
•Step 2: On the new page, click ‘Sign Up’.
•Step 3: Enter your company name, employer name, state, region, email ID & your phone number.
•Step 4: Click on the checkbox to confirm your establishment is under an exclusive labor contract & security agencies.
•Step 5: Click ‘Submit’. An email will be sent with details login.
•Step 6: Now that you have signed up, you need to visit the ESIC Portal to log in.
•Step 7: Enter the username & password received by email & click on ‘Login’.
•Step 8: Click on ‘New Employer Registration’.
•Step 9: Select the type of unit & click on submit.
•Step 10: On the new page, enter the name of the unit, the complete postal address of the factory or the establishment, and the police station under whose jurisdiction your unit is.
•Step 11: Enter if the building of the establishment is owned & click ‘Next’ to proceed.
•Step 12: Enter the nature of the business & categories, PAN details, etc., & click on ‘Next’.
•Step 13: Select the constitution of ownership & details of owners & then click ‘Save’ after entering all the designation of owners & then click on ‘Next’.
•Step 14: Enter the number of employees working in your establishment & the number of employees earning less than Rs.21, 000 and click on ‘Save’.
•Step 15: On the new page, enter the date when the first 10 or 20 workers were employed & then click on ‘Employee Declaration Form’.
.•Step 16: Enter the name of the IP & father’s name, address, birth date, gender, marital status, family details, & joining date.
•Step 17: Click on the checkbox and click on ‘Submit’.
•Step 18: Once all details are duly filled, click ‘Close’ on the new page.
•Step 19: On the new page, select the respective Employee State Insurance (ESI) branch office & the inspection division.
•Step 20: Now, click on the checkbox to declare that information provided is correct & then click on ‘Submit’.
•Step 21: On the new page, you’ll have to click ‘Pay Initial Contribution’ & click on ‘Submit’. You’ll be provided with a Challan Number for future reference.
•Step 22: Click ‘Continue’ to pay through the required payment gateway.
Once the payment method is completed, you’ll receive the system generated ESI Registration Letter known as C-11 to your registered email ID. The C-11 acts as proof of registration of the company with the Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC).
